The watch: Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch

Recently, I heard rumblings about a deli that opened up in the Over-the-Rhine area of Cincinnati so I took my best girl and we went for lunch. Let’s start by saying that Young Buck Deli delivers something timeless: the kind of flavor that stays with you long after the last bite. It’s a love letter to deli culture, a tribute to quality, and a celebration of big, bold sandwiches with unapologetic swagger. For this adventure, we brought along the Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch. Like the deli itself, this timepiece needs no introduction.
Young Buck Deli blends classic deli nostalgia with a fresh, modern edge. Exposed brick, butcher cut charts, and wood countertops channel old-school charm, while bold blue accents and a neon sign inject vibrant energy. The open kitchen offers a window into fresh focaccia being baked daily, adding a handcrafted touch to the experience. It’s a space that feels both timeless and alive, just like the sandwiches they serve.
We were starving when we got here, so let me tell you what we had.

First up is the Boston Beef “Three Way.” This sandwich is a masterclass in indulgence. Thinly sliced rare roast beef melts into white American cheese, sweet and smoky BBQ sauce, tangy Kewpie mayo, and fried onions, all hugged by a pillowy slab of focaccia. It’s rich, beefy, messy, and glorious, a sandwich you eat with both hands and a sense of purpose. Unapologetic on purpose. The Moonwatch, famously worn during the first moon landing, echoes that same boldness: designed to perform under pressure, yet stylish enough to wear anywhere on Earth.

Next, is the New Deal. This is deli craftsmanship at its peak. Smoked pork loin ham and spicy gabagool (capicola) meet shredded lettuce, pickled red onions, ricotta, oregano aioli, and red wine vinaigrette. It’s creamy, punchy, acidic, and beautifully balanced. Each ingredient is deliberate, like every component of the Speedmaster’s iconic tachymeter bezel and symmetrical case, form meeting function in a satisfying stack.

Finally, the Pop’s Pasta Salad. This isn’t your grandmother’s pasta salad. Penne is tossed with crispy ‘nduja bits, Castelvetrano olives, giardiniera (if you’re from Chicago, you know what this is), Calabrian chili oil, and a dollop of stracciatella. It’s spicy, briny, rich, and deeply addictive. The heat builds with each bite, much like the admiration for the Speedmaster builds every time you see that hand sweep across the dial.

The Pairing
The Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch doesn’t shout for attention. It simply commands it. With its legacy rooted in space exploration and its design virtually unchanged since the Apollo missions, it’s a watch that means business. And that’s the same energy Young Buck Deli brings to its food. This isn’t about trends or pretense. It’s about nailing the fundamentals and doing it so well that you don’t need to say a word.
Both the watch and the food embody a kind of analog beauty: honest, tactile, and built to last.
